Sony Wants to Produce More PS5 Units For the 'Year-End Holiday Selling Season'
Sony is getting ready for the upcoming holiday season as it plans to ramp up the production of PlayStation 5 units for the customers.
Over the past months, we have seen that PS5 restocks almost everywhere. Before that, people struggled to snipe a single unit because of the global chip shortage.
Sony is Ready For PS5 Selling Season
Back in May, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger said that the PS5 stock shortage would persist until 2024. At that time, many people lost hope in finding potential units of the next-gen consoles. Now, it seems that Sony has shown signs that the PlayStation 5 supplies are slowly recovering these past few months.
According to a report by Push Square, the Japanese console maker expects more units to be available in the future. This means that hunting PS5 will be much easier now than before.
This is good news for those painfully enduring the long online queues and ending up with nothing to purchase. IGN reports that the company is increasing its PS5 production as the holiday season approaches.
Since the pandemic, people have become more dependent on their gadgets inside their homes. As a result, the demand for electronics and software skyrocketed in an instant.
Based on Sony's recent earnings results last July 29, the gameplay engagement and software sales have displayed a year-on-year decrease.
"Taking this situation into account, we intend to take action to increase user engagement in the second half of the fiscal year, during which major titles including first party software are scheduled to be released, primarily by increasing the supply of [PS5] hardware and promoting the new PlayStation Plus service," Sony said.
Sony Continues to Improve its Services
As per IGN, Sony has huge expectations that its forecast will take place for the upcoming fiscal year. As such, the company aims to produce 18 million units as lockdowns ease up all over the world.
If Sony succeeds in selling the PS5 units during the holiday season, it could recover big time from its losses. Although the supplies are limited in some stores, the company is doing its best to cater to the needs of those who want the consoles.
As per Sony CFO Hiroki Totoki during the Q&A session, the company is targeting to produce more PlayStation 5 consoles "as soon as possible."
Recently, the gaming-focused corporation unveiled the 1440p support accessible in PS5's beta software. Aside from this support, the latest version has a lot to offer, including the ability to organize the games properly and receive alerts when someone joins your party.
