Sony and PlayStation's take on delivering a highly-accessible controller that would adhere to certain needs of gamers is confirmed for release this year, particularly on December 6.
While it does not conform to modern gaming standards like the DualSense controller and others, this modular and highly-customizable device can work for any gamer.
Not everyone can enjoy the benefits of modern gaming because of their physical difficulties, and Sony is here to help them get the most out of the PlayStation experience.
Sony Confirms December 6 Release for PS5 Access Controller
Sony's PlayStation is set to launch a new device for the PS5, and it is the Accessibility Controller that would conform to all types of gamers and provide assistance to those that need it.
It will be available on December 6, and while it is still months away, it already presents an important extension of the gaming experience for those with difficulties. The new Access Controller would be available for $90, only $20 more expensive than the standard DualSense devices.
It will feature a range of various caps and buttons to use. It has 19 buttons and three joystick configurations, including the Standard, Dome Stick Cap, and Ball Stick Cap.
There would be four 3.5mm expansion ports as well. Sony is also adding 23 more buttons that would be easily swappable for users.
Is It Worth It to Buy the Sony PS5 Access Controller?
The new Access Controller is a great way to change your gaming experience, and it would not only apply to those who face challenges in holding a standard controller.
It caters to different types of gamers wanting to expand their play, with customization and button mapping to explore. Sony said preorders will be open next week, Friday, July 21.
The PlayStation 5 Experience
Sony's CES 2023 showcase first gave the world a glimpse into the future of the PlayStation 5 experience. The console will not go anywhere, with the company focusing more on what it can offer to its users.
And one of the announced techs here is the Accessibility Controller, otherwise known as "Project Leonardo," designed for people with physical limitations to help them play video games.
It is a new controller meant for the PS5 while primarily capturing the essence of the original DualSense. However, PS5's DualSense Edge is yet to bid farewell to the market, which is priced at $200. It also featured modular parts, including removable joysticks and better button mapping.
The PlayStation 5 experience brought the gaming world to the next level with significant developments in its quality and performance, especially in carrying different AAA-rated titles until now.
On top of that, Sony is looking for ways to be more welcoming to different types of gamers. With its soon-to-be-released Accessibility Controller this December, it will surely help those who need more gaming assistance.
