Meta Launches Six New Features for Facebook and Instagram Reels
In a new video campaign that has been posted on Facebook, Meta launches new features for their two top social media platforms, including the "Add Yours" stickers from Instagram Stories, which have now been added in Reels.
Through this, users can now respond by adding their own Reels relating to the topic that will be stated on the sticker. People will also see the original creator and the related users that added their own entries by clicking the new feature on the Reel itself, as reportedly first by TechCrunch.
Reels started on Instagram late last year, and Meta reveals that this feature is very popular with their users, the reason for it being launched on Reels.
The company has also launched the "Auto-Created Reals" for Facebook that gives an option to the users to turn their past stories into a Reel by compiling them automatically. Together with these two additional features, cross posting is now also added to the feature by sharing your own works on the same platforms at the same time.
The Creator Studio, which originally came from Facebook, has also now been added where users can see the Reel's reach, views, and interaction in a more detailed approach.
Reels Remix's Similarity Tiktok's Features
Just like the Duet and the Stitch feature of the social media application Tiktok, Reels can now be 'remixed' where users can add their own reels on other creator's side by side and a feature where users can show their own clip after the clip of the original creator.
The two companies' (Meta and Tiktok) features are very much alike. Facebook and Instagram just launched this new feature in 2020 and 2021, while Tiktok has been offering this feature since it was released in 2016. As Tiktok CEO Kevin Mayer stated, he welcomes 'another copycat product' from Meta and is confident and happy to compete with them.
Stars for Reels
Virtual items such as Stars can now be sent by users on Facebook Reels to support their favorite creators' videos. This feature can be used by all eligible creators on the said platform. New mobile options have been launched for users who are just starting to give stars. Tracking earnings can also be seen in this feature.
Reels are videos that are much shorter than other videos that have been posted on the platforms as they only last 15 minutes or less. Before the year 2021 ended, Adam Mosseri, Instagram's Head, stated that the company will prioritize Reels and will be doubling down its focus on photos and videos, in a video that he posted on Twitter.
In the Meta Reports Second Quarter 2022 Results, 30% has been increased on the data where users spent watching Reels, which they gladly announced as they see this feature as a boost for their company to step up their goal financially as Meta experiences a decline of their revenue.
